Who we are
ShelfTrue is a Shopify app made by TechBridge, a registered business name. It compares the stock your Shopify store shows with the stock your warehouse (ShipBob, or a stock file you upload) reports, and tells you when they differ. This page covers the ShelfTrue app, the emails it sends, and this website.
What ShelfTrue reads
ShelfTrue only reads. It never changes anything in your Shopify store or at your warehouse.
- From Shopify (read-only access to products, inventory, locations and orders): your products, product codes (SKUs), prices and costs, stock counts per location, and your paid orders.
- From ShipBob (read-only access you approve): stock per warehouse, your warehouses, products, and whether each paid order arrived at ShipBob and its status there.
What we keep
- Your store: its Shopify address (like acme.myshopify.com), time zone, currency, language, plan and settings.
- Products and stock: product names and codes, prices and costs, stock counts, locations and stock changes.
- Orders, limited to: the order number, when it was paid or cancelled, whether it was fulfilled, and which products (SKU) and how many. Nothing else from the order.
- Alert recipients: the email addresses you add for alerts, stored encrypted.
- Your agreement to our terms: when someone at your store agreed, their Shopify staff ID (a number, never a name or email) and which versions they agreed to.
- Access keys for Shopify and ShipBob, stored encrypted.
How we use it
Only to run ShelfTrue for you: to compare your Shopify stock with your warehouse, show the differences, and send the alerts, summaries and reports you set up. We also use it to bill you through Shopify and to help when you ask. We never sell your data and never use it for advertising.
Analytics on this website
On shelftrue.com only, and only if you click "Allow analytics", we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. The ShelfTrue app inside Shopify and our emails use no analytics.
- Until you allow it, nothing is sent to Google Analytics and no analytics cookies are set.
- If you allow it, Google Analytics sets the cookies
_gaand_ga_*(they expire after 2 months), and keeps the visit data for 2 months. - Google Analytics does not store your IP address; it uses it only to work out an approximate location. We don't use its advertising features.
- You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.
Companies that help us run ShelfTrue
| Company | What it does for us | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Railway | Hosting and database (United States) | The data listed above, with access keys and alert addresses encrypted |
| Postmark | Sends our emails | Your alert email addresses and what our emails say (product names, codes, quantities, order numbers) |
| Google Analytics (Google LLC) | Counts visits to shelftrue.com, only if you allow it | Pages visited, device and browser, approximate location from your IP address |
| Cloudflare | Domain name service and hosting of this website | Visits to our websites |
| Shopify and ShipBob | Where your data comes from | Nothing: we only read from them |
Postmark keeps the content of emails it sends for 45 days, then deletes it.
This website loads its font from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google for it when you open a page.
How long we keep it
Older records are deleted automatically every night:
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Products, current stock counts, settings, product links | While ShelfTrue is installed |
| Stock differences | While open, then 90 days after they are closed |
| Orders (order number, times, products and quantities) | 90 days |
| Stock change history, check runs, activity list, uploaded stock files | 90 days |
| Daily stock record and daily share of matching products | 120 days on paid plans, 90 days on Free |
| Record of emails we sent (when and about which differences; never the address) | 2 years |
| Access keys for Shopify and ShipBob (encrypted) | Until you uninstall or disconnect |
Deleting your data
- Any time: in the app, Data and privacy → Delete all my data. It happens right away.
- When you uninstall: we delete our Shopify access key right away. About 48 hours later Shopify asks us to erase your store's data, and we delete it as soon as that request arrives: products, stock, orders, differences, settings, alert addresses, warehouse connections and access keys.
- One exception: the record that your store agreed to our terms is kept for 4 years in a scrambled form that can't be read back to your store or the person, so we can show the agreement if there is a dispute.
- Backups of our database are deleted within 30 days.
Keeping it safe
Everything is sent over encrypted connections. Access keys and alert email addresses are stored encrypted, and are kept out of our system logs. Only ShelfTrue's owner can get into our systems.
